«Ζητήσαμε από την πρέσβειρα Γκίλφοϊλ να παραιτηθεί»
«Ζητήσαμε από την πρέσβειρα Γκίλφοϊλ να παραιτηθεί», δήλωσε η εκπρόσωπος Τύπου του Λευκού Οίκου, Κέιτι Ζακαράια, κατά τη διάρκεια ενημέρωσης των δημοσιογράφων την Τρίτη. «Υπήρξε πολύτιμο μέλος της ομάδας μας και της ευχόμαστε ό,τι καλύτερο», πρόσθεσε.
Το αίτημα για την παραίτηση της Κίμπερλι Γκίλφοϊλ ήρθε μετά τη δημόσια έκφραση της δυσαρέσκειας του Αμερικανού προέδρου τη Δευτέρα σχετικά με τα δημοσιεύματα για τη συμπεριφορά της. Το βράδυ της Δευτέρας, σε ερώτηση δημοσιογράφου έξω από τον Λευκό Οίκο για το αν σκέφτεται να απομακρύνει την πρέσβειρα, ο Αμερικανός πρόεδρος απάντησε θετικά:
